The make up of Dyslexia
There are many commonly recognised characteristics spanning reading, writing, maths, balance and control of energy which are assessed against. Any
one or multiple of the characteristics can be experienced from slight to severe difficulty level. It is due to this complexity that every "Dyslexic" is unique in what they experience. As a result every correction programme is tailored to the individual who undertakes the programme, which starts with an assessment of these characteristics and 30 hours of one-to-one facilitation.
Briefly, these are:
• Dyslexia - Difficulty in reading and spelling
• Dyscalculia - Difficulty with numbers
• Dysgraphia - Difficulty in forming written words
• Dyspraxia - Clumsiness and poor co-ordination
• ADD - (Attention Deficit Disorder) inability to keep the mind in one place
• ADHD - As ADD with bundles of energy!
The Development Programme
Depending on what the client's needs are and their life commitments at the time it is often preferable to undertake the programme in one week, for other clients it is more beneficial to break down the 30 hours into smaller blocks of time, either single days or 2&3 day blocks.
For clients who experience the characteristics of ADD, ADHD it is often better to break the programme down to one day sessions over consecutive weeks so that they have more time to practice what they are learning and thus gain better results.
